Wellington Camp

This week we went to Wellington.  The first thing we did was Zealandia.  Zealandia is a place that protects Native and Endemic animals and plants.  I learnt that native means found in New Zealand but also can be found in other places in the world.  Endemic Means that it is only found in New Zealand.  Next we visited the Holocaust center. It had some interesting books that I read. I learnt that 1.5 million children died in the holocaust. There were some things that children said and thought during the holocaust that were a different opinion. The final thing we did that day was the weta workshop. I learnt that sometimes in movies they used fake arrows that wouldn't hurt anyone and that they had robot masks that could move up and down.  We visited the space place and learnt how to find south in the night sky. We had a intense quiz about our solar system.  We had a fun ride on the cable car and went through lit up tunnels.  We also went to Parliament and learnt how laws were made. We were also taught how debates went. We were given a special tour and there were tons of questions asked and answered. We learnt about the Wahine disaster which was a boat that sunk near wellington and 52 people died. We got to try out some things that people migt have done on boats in the old days. We visited Capital E and they taught us how to create a movie clip and how to create Virtual reality also known as V.R during the making of our video clip we were taught how to use the cameras, sound control panel and many other things. During V.R they taught us how to create a world which included mountains, coloring our world, adding objects and even adding animals! We went to the bug lab in Te Papa which was very interactive, interesting and fun there was activities like, making origami bugs then watching them fly, a slide that made bug noises and a hive to look in.  For a fun treat we got to go to H2o Extreme the pools there were three slides on was lit up, one went really fast down and the last one was pitch black and had some twisty corners.  We went to the zoo and learnt about animals adapting to their homes there were lots of animals and things to learn about. There were some playful chimpanzees and sleepy lions and cute otters to name a few of the many animals there. We visited a beach and went snorkeling. I saw lots of fish and sea weed. I also saw massive paua the seaweed was very detailed but the water was freezing.  My buddy and adult saw a sting ray but sadly I didn't.
